The Republika Srpska Ministry of Labour and Veterans Affairs
announced it will launch a procedure to again review the law on the
right to the old age pension for professional military personnel, and
that the Cabinet, using the possibilities in the Rulebook of the
Republika Srpska Parliament, will try to put this issue before the
Parliament as soon as possible and will try to avoid the consequences of
the law’s retroactive implementation for officers and NCOs who need to
be retired.
“Article 211 of the Rulebook of the Republika Srpska Parliament
provides for the possibility for a law which did not pass Parliament to
be put on the agenda again before the passage of three months if
Parliament decides to shorten the time,” says the Ministry.
It was concluded at the meeting that as wide a consensus as possible
needs to be achieved in Srpska for resolution of this issue.
“It was concluded that the issue of retirement for officers and NCOs
is in the general interest of all structures in Republika Srpska, but
that the relevant institutions at the BiH level must get involved in its
resolution,” says a press release.
With the passage of a law on the right to retirement by professional
military personnel the issue of the retirement of officers and NCOs
would be systematically resolved. Forty-eight of them, whose contracts
expired on February 28, would be accepted into the Republika Srpska
pension system in 2013.
The meeting at the Ministry of Labour and Veterans Affairs was also
attended by representatives of the BiH Armed Forces, Lt.-Col. Miladin
Milojicic, Brigadier Radovan Ilic, and the head of the Pension and
Disability Insurance Department, Rajko Plavsic.
