“BiH political party leaders and EU officials agreed at the
meeting that the BiH Presidency members will be elected directly – one
member from Republika Srpska and two from the FBiH. FBiH politicians
have an obligation to draft a final mechanism for the elections in the
FBiH by October 10,” Dodik said.
He said that another meeting is planned for October 10 in Brussels,
when an agreement on changes to the BiH Constitution in connection with
the Sejdic-Finci decision should be signed.
Dodik said the Republika Srpska representatives can go to that
meeting relaxed as crucial issues were resolved the way they advocated.
“As far as a coordination mechanism is concerned, it has been
finalised and a significant number of participants agree with the
proposed solution. Some details remain to be agreed by October 10, so
that by that date formal conditions for BiH to apply for EU candidate
status are expected to be created,” said Dodik.
Dodik said that he and SDS president Mladen Bosic today in Brussels
had identical positions regarding the earlier agreement and made it
clear that Republika Srpska does not see a different solution from the
one they have advocated all along.
He noted that the EU Enlargement Commissioner, Stefan Fule, chaired
the meeting and warned of the many challenges in case progress is not
made.
Participants of the third round of a high-level dialogue on the
accession process between representatives of the European Commission and
BiH political party leaders on Tuesday in Brussels signed principles
for implementing the Sejdic-Finci decision.
