“I see in it an additional reason to reach a political agreement
in connection with harmonising the BiH Constitution, as required by the
Court in Strasbourg, which the EU expects by the end of March,” Gilles
said and added that the failure to reach a timely compromise would be
extremely harmful for BiH and its citizens.
According to him, it would then be illusory for some time to come to speak convincingly about a European road for BiH.
After a meeting which the BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs had with
the Ambassadors of the member states of this organisation, on the
occasion of International Francophonie Day, Gilles said at a press
conference that there should be word of the economic dimension of
Francophonie for all its members.
Filip Teodorescu, the Ambassador of Romania to BiH, which this year
is chairing the International Organisation of the Francophonie, said
that the diversities of BiH and the Balkans are an inexhaustible source
of richness and that this should be made use of, since Europe needs such
diversity.
The Greek Ambassador to BiH, Karolos Gadis, said that the cultural
ties of the countries of Francophonie represent a foundation for further
cooperation in the economy and other fields.
The Ambassador of Egypt to BiH, Omar Abdelaziz Sharaf, said that the
progress and dialogue which would be turned to the development of the
region failed this spring, and pointed out that it is necessary to work
at promoting democracy, peace, human rights, education, these being the
goals of the International Organisation of the Francophonie.
“This is why we need such organisations as will promote social goals,” Sharaf said.
The Swiss Ambassador to BiH, Andre Schaller, said that BiH, with its diversities, has made a great contribution to Francophonie.
The coordinator for Francophonie in BiH, Zeljko Juric, said that
thanks to the support from the BiH Foreign Ministry and the
participation of the Embassies of Egypt, France, Greece, Romania and
Switzerland, the “season of Francophonie,” which lasts from March 5 to
April 26, offers a diverse programme such as lectures, concerts and
films throughout the country.
He said that this is the 3rd International Francophonie Day being
marked in BiH, and added that since 2010, BiH has been a member of the
family of Francophonie, which was founded in 1970 and today has 77
member states.
“Francophonie is not just French language and culture, but politics,
the economy and cooperation. Francophonie is richness of diversities,
and with this quality, BiH gives it additional value,” Jerkic said and
added that BiH is a country with many diversities.
