Vukcevic said that a ramp of justice will be installed at all
borders of the region for war crimes suspects.
“This provides an opportunity for the
effective protection of the interests of victims,” Vukcevic said.
The Protocol completes the framework
for justice in the region, as it defines the instruments for the effective
prosecution of war crimes suspects.
The Protocol allows for the transfer
of evidence and information in connection with war crimes cases between the two
Prosecutions, especially where parallel investigations are involved.
It was signed in the presence of the
Director-General of the EU Enlargement Directorate, Stefano Sannino, the
Director of the EU’s Directorate for the Balkans, Pierre Mirel, representatives
of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, the US Ambassador for War Crimes Issues, Steven
Rep, and representatives of the US Embassy in Belgrade.
Later this afternoon, Vukcevic will
meet with Clint Williamson, head of the Eulex’s special team investigating
trafficking in human organs in Kossovo.
“The meeting will deal with the
progress made in the investigation, meaning the exchange of new information
discovered by Vukcevic and Williamson,” says a press release.
