President Dodik said that at
a meeting today with a delegation from Microsoft there was word about the
cooperation Republika Srpska has maintained with this company for years, and
about new areas of cooperation and its strengthening.
“We have something to be proud of. Together with representatives of this
company, we in Republika Srpska have developed certain procedures and enabled
Republika Srpska be the leader in the region in implementing information
technologies, which Microsoft representatives also confirmed today,” Dodik
said.
Dodik is convinced that this cooperation will be developed further.
The Republika Srpska Minister of Science and Technology and Deputy Prime
Minister, Jasmin Komic, said that it is the intention of the Government to have
an efficient public administration, in which the cooperation with Microsoft is
very useful.
He said that future cooperation with this corporation will result in new
services for citizens, but also in new benefits for investors.
Josh Rice, the senior director for the cloud strategy and director of the World
Wide Public Sector Technology Sales & Operations at Microsoft, said he was
very satisfied and appreciative of the cooperation between Microsoft and
Republika Srpska.
“We hope the cooperation in education and health care will expand to other
areas in order to contribute to the development of the economy, knowledge in
information technologies and communications, and in order to improve the
efficiency of public services,” said Rice, who on behalf of Microsoft thanked his
hosts for their hospitality.
The Microsoft director for Central and Eastern Europe, Dejan Cvetkovic, said
that Srpska is small but extremely agile when it comes to new technologies, and
that what is being done in Srpska they want to promote outside its borders as
well.
“Both the President and Prime Minister demonstrated extraordinary leadership
and commitment to the development of information technologies,” Cvetkovic said.
He said that the cooperation with Republika Srpska is a long-lasting one, and
that today there was word about an electronic government and further
implementation of solutions towards modernisation of the public administration
in Srpska.
“The Republika Srpska Cabinet four years ago had completed an infrastructure
for electronic sessions, which is one of first such solutions in central
Europe, which now all the countries have. The leadership which was then visible
in Srpska was something we used to promote our solution,” Cvetkovic said.
He said that Srpska did not stop at licensing and legalisation, but has taken
“ten steps more” since its President and Prime Minister are now talking about
public administration reform with the use of information technologies.
Republika Srpska Prime Minister Aleksandar Dzombic also met today with the
Microsoft delegation, and a working lunch with Republika Srpska Ministers and
representatives of the City of Banjaluka was also organised.
